Life Dream Status: Hogwarts Courses Are Now Available Online

Good news for modern witches and wizards who don’t have time to pursue a traditional magic education: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry now offers an online option. The tech-savvy training program, called Hogwarts Is Here, was dreamed up by a group of enthusiastic Harry Potter fans who wanted to give people the experience of Hogwarts (without the need to ram yourself repeatedly into the brick wall at Platform 9 & 3/4). Here’s the lowdown from the site:

You are now able to enroll at Hogwarts, collect your textbooks and begin taking our 9-week courses online. You can now progress through all seven years of schooling and be assigned a professor, homework assignments, quizzes and more. Meet other students online by joining a House dormitory, chat with others in the Common Room, browse and contribute to the Hogwarts Library, collect chocolate frog cards, earn galleons & house points and so much more.

Upon signing up, students receive a Hogwarts acceptance letter (which is, unfortunately, not delivered by owl post), choose a House to join (so far Gryffindor is the resounding favorite), and shop for school supplies.

The best part: it’s 100% free; taught, maintained, and managed entirely by volunteers. The only expense I can think of is all the Starbucks Butterbeers you’ll have to buy to sustain you through late-night spell-memorizing cram sessions. So worth it, though. So worth it. [People]
