As I mentioned last week, Katie and I recently got the opportunity to meet makeup expert Sonia Kashuk to discuss her new collection of affordable makeup for Target. One of the items that caught my curiosity was the Pearlescence Longwear Crème Shadow. Like many of Sonia’s products we chose to try for Beauty Test Drive, A compact size, this product travels well and my hope was that it would be perfect to carry in my purse for quick touchups between work and happy hour. So, did it live up to my desires? Let’s find out…
Price/Availability: $8.99 Sonia Kashuk Exclusively at Target
Formula: These 14-hour longwear cream metallic shadows contain light diffusing properties for brighter eyes. The formula contains sesame, neem, and Indian senna seed oil with restoring, anti-inflammatory, and moisturizing properties.
Application: The eye shadow comes in a small rectangular tube with a wand. To apply, simply use the wand to dot the eye with product and blend with fingers. I highlighted my eyes by applying Diamond to the lid and brow bone. Than I used the color Tiger’s Eye to create depth under the brow bone and outer corner of each eye.
There is no right or wrong way to apply this product. If you feel more comfortable using one color all over your lid, go for it. These nifty natural shades create a subtle look with a shimmery finish. A more dramatic look can be accomplished with eyeliner and lash extending mascara.
Overall: Though I didn’t wear this product for a full 14 hours, it lasted through my eight-hour workday. However, when my eyes were closed, my lids looked like crepe paper. Obviously, only I would notice or be bothered by this. Maybe the moisturizing properties will correct this over time? I will let you be the judge of how bright and youthful my eyes look.
Personally, this product won’t be replacing my daily routine of powder shadows. But while it didn’t wow me, it did live up to its description. The natural colors, portability, easy application, and low cost make this product a simple solution for the no-fuss woman.
