One thing I always say about men: it is so hot when they believe that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. That’s why the rest of The Frisky staff and I want to have front row seats next month when Bill Nye The Science Guy debates Ken Ham, the founder of the Creation Museum.
The Creation Museum in Kentucky “brings the pages of the Bible to life,” according to its website, where — no joke — it mentions Adam, Eve, and dinosaurs all in the same paragraph. Exhibits include a Noah’s Ark construction site and one which explains how “Biblical history is key to understanding dinosaurs.”
Ken Ham and Bill Nye will debate the topic, “Is creation a viable model of origins?” said the Creation Museum in a statement:
Having the opportunity to hold a cordial but spirited debate with such a well-known personality who is admired by so many young people will help bring the creation/evolution issue to the attention of many more people, including youngsters.
One the one hand, I’m annoyed that Bill Nye participating in this debate legitimizes the other side — which is, I think, an absurd viewpoint. Science is not up for debate. On the other hand, perhaps it could very educational for all the creationists in the audience. Get ready for your minds to be blown about fossils, people! It’s a dirty job but somebody has to do it. Bill, call us!
