Meet Dayna Morales, a waitress at Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, N.J. Morales wrote into the gay-friendly blog Have A Gay Day about her recent encounter with homophobia. Morales recently waited on a family of diners, and when the short-haired (and cute, might I add) waitress introduced herself, the mother at the table made a point of saying, “Oh I thought you were gonna say your name is Dan. You sure surprised us!” You know, because Dayna has short hair, so she must look like a dude. But that’s not even the story! After receiving impeccable service from Morales, the family paid their bill, which came to a grand total of $93.55 — and didn’t leave any tip. But the mom did leave a note on the receipt, which read, “Sorry I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle [and] the way you live your life.”
Said Morales in her email to Have A Gay Day:
NEVER in a million years did I think this would happen. … I am THOROUGHLY offended mad pissed off and hurt that THIS is what her kids will grow up learning and that I served in the Marines to keep ignorant people like them free. Sorry lady but I don’t agree with YOUR lifestyle and the way you’re raising your kids but you didn’t see me throwing that in your face and giving you shitty service. Keep your damn mouth shut and pray we never cross paths again.
Seriously. You know what this awful mother should have done if she was so offended by the lifestyle — i.e. A BIG GAY ONE — she assumes Morales lives because she has short hair? Gone somewhere else to eat. I hear the Westboro Baptists do a wonderful buffet lunch. [Huffington Post]
