This Woman Blames 20 Years Of Unemployment On A "Shoe Allergy"

UK woman Tracy Kenny, who has been collecting unemployment for the last 20 years, has been deemed fit to work once again by the government. But the 45-year-old mother of four says that is absolutely impossible due to her “shoe allergy.”

Kenny claims that her allergies to rubber, glue, nickel and metal (the materials shoes are made from) leave her skin too blistered and sore to work. Her condition, called contact dermatitis, is a form of eczema that causes red, itchy, scaly skin. It’s so bad, in fact, that Kenny spends her days barefoot, doing nothing, wearing special gloves to protect her from metal items in her house, such as silverware.

“How can I go to work, or go to job interviews, with no shoes on? I just don’t know what to do…Socks draw the glue in and slippers don’t help. It’s so unfair and stressful,” Kenny told the Manchester Evening News.

I’ll tell you what’s unfair and stressful: having to show up at work every day of your adult life because you don’t have a shoe allergy. Clearly, this woman has put us all to shame in the “genius excuses to sit around on your ass all day and do nothing” department. I hate to break it to Kenny, but Amelia rarely wears shoes and has somehow managed to hold down her position as Editor-In-Chief of The Frisky for several years now. Proof that it can be done! [I am indeed editing this post while barefoot. -- Amelia] [Manchester Evening News]
