Totally Coveted: Bad-Ass Boots, Skin-Firming Serums & Sexy Lace Undies

totally coveted what were craving this week

This is Totally Coveted, our new whenever series documenting all the super ridiculous crap we want but (probably, most certainly) are too sensible to buy. Hey, a girl can dream — about $1,200 shoes — can’t she? Take a peek at what we’re coveting, and then tell us what you’re lusting after in the comments!

1. D&G Lace Briefs, $525

Winona: My underwear drawer is filled with unsightly shapewear and $5 clearance rack cotton briefs, which are all fine and good, but aren’t really conducive the glamorous lounging lifestyle I secretly yearn for. If I were the kind of person who spent over $500 on one pair of gorgeous, retro-inspired lace panties (side note: WHO DOES THAT?!), I feel like I would spend a lot more time napping on a velvet chaise lounge and smoking cigarettes using one of those long Cruella de Vil cigarette holders.

2. Giuseppe Zanotti Nikita Ankle Boots, $895

Rachel: Go ahead, ask me at any time, any place, what splurge-y purchase I’m dying to make the most: my answer, without fail, will be a pair of boots. My countless pairs of neglected pumps, flats, sandals, wedges, what have you tell me one thing and one thing only, which is that I should stop lying to myself, stop making frivolous shoe purchases, and accept that I should probably just invest in one pair of really nice, durable black ankle boots, because they’re really the only footwear I need. Giuseppe Zanotti’s gold-buckled version would by default become the priciest pair of shoes I own, but just look at them! They’re absolutely perfect.

3. Funktional Draw String Pants, $152

Rachel: I rarely, if ever, stray from my long-curated Fashion Formula. My wardrobe consists of dark-wash jeans, black or white tops, black boots, and … that’s about it. The upside of this is that all of my pieces work together, so I can pretty much grab anything and go, which is just how I like it. The downside — there’s always a downside — is that, while foolproof, it’s just so boring. A recent inventory check (see: me tossing all of my clothes onto the floor in an exasperated attempt to put together something fresh and interesting) called to my attention the fact that I do not own a single pair of non-jeans pants. Not one! All denim, all the time. That’s why I’m looking to invest in something like these slouchy graphic-printed silk pants. They’re comfortable, stylish, and can be dressed up or down with equal ease, and the brightly colored drawings make knowing what to wear on top (solid colors! black or white!) a breeze. And, bonus, the slightly cropped, tapered cut around the ankle creates a super-flattering silhouette on my body type. (Short.)

4. Mitoq Anti-Aging Skin Cream, $185

Julie: Mitoq uses something called CoQ technology to rejuvenate and restore collagen and elastin to your skin. It protects your skin and smooths out lines by enhancing your skin’s natural anti-oxidant defenses. But hey, that’s all some science. What you really need to know is, the line that was formerly across the middle of my forehead, staring at me like a scornful lover, is now gone.

5. Aveda Heartlands Makeup Collection, $14-16 each

Julie: Aveda just released its latest collection of eyeshadows, liners, lip pencils and glosses and they are so pretty. Of particular note is their new lipstick shade, Redwood, a rich, warm and spicy red, and their new deep green eye pencil called Juniper. Worn together, you’ll look ready for apple-picking and cozy fires and all the other crap that goes along with colder weather.

6. Hunter Rain Boots, $120

Winona: When I moved from Portland to Nashville, I gave away all my rain-proof clothes because I am an idiot who thought nowhere could possibly be rainier than the Pacific Northwest. Plus the South is known for being warm, right? Turns out it rains in Tennessee. A LOT. I recently got myself a spiffy new rain coat; now it’s time to give my poor, soggy shoes a break and invest in some fancy rain boots. These would look so cute with jeans tucked in or with the all the cute new sun dresses I’m quickly accumulating.
