San Diego Mayor Bob Filner Enters Counseling For Sexual Harassment

  • San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, who has been accused of sexual harassment by seven women including constituents and former employees, said he will enter counseling for two weeks in August. Filner, who has been repeatedly asked to resign by former friends, will undergo “behavior counseling” at a clinic for “intensive therapy.” Empathy rehab? Filner has admitted his behavior (including butt grabbing and kisses) was “wrong” and “intimidation,” but has not verbally referred to the abuse as sexual harassment. [CNN, Los Angeles Times]
  • North Carolina’s Republican Governor Pat McCrory announced he will sign new laws restricting abortion access in the state, which were passed yesterday by the state Senate. The legislation would require clinics that provide abortions to adhere to the same standards as ambulatory surgical centers, among other restrictions. Gov.   • The former head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss Kahn, has been charged with “aggravated pimping” in connection with accusations he paid for sex with women, including at sex parties. DSK, who resigned from the IMF after allegedly sexually assaulting a maid in a New York City hotel room (criminal charges were eventually dropped), has claimed he didn’t know any of these women were sex workers.
