The Future Is Here & It’s The NFC Ring

Julie Gerstein / July 24, 2013

NFC stands for Near Field Communication, a type of data transfer that allows information to be passed between people and devices at short distance. British developer John McLear’s been working on the ring technology, which he says will allow wearers to do stuff like wirelessly lock doors, unlock their phones and transmit information between devices. With the NFC ring, hypothetically, you could store a bunch of data — photos, emails, or documents — that you’d like to share, but also have other information that remains private. So basically, it’s wearable technology that will make your life even more ridiculously easy. The project’s already met its Kickstarter funding goal, but it’s still worth checking out the video so you can be in the know when our future tech overlords take over. [Kickstarter]
