Sad news: Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on “Glee,” was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on Saturday. The 31-year-old actor was seen on the hotel’s surveillance tapes inviting several people into his room on Friday night, going out with them, and then later returning to his hotel room alone. Hotel staff discovered his body after he failed to check out on time. Monteith’s cause of death hasn’t been determined yet, but police have ruled out foul play.
Monteith had a long history of drug use. In a 2011 interview with Parade magazine, Monteith admitted that he’d used drugs on and off since he was 13. Monteith check himself into a drug rehab facility this past March.
Monteith was well-regarded by his “Glee” castmates, several of whom took to Twitter in the wake of his death. Dot-Marie Jones, who plays “Glee”‘s high school football coach, wrote: “I have no words! My heart is broken. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever.
“He showed up every day and he was a delight,” said “Glee” director Adam Shankman of the star.
His “Glee” co-star and longtime girlfriend Lea Michelle has not yet made a public statement. [CNN]
