French teenagers! Lesbianism! Philosophy! Jean Paul Sartre! “Long, explicit sex scenes”! This year, the prizewinning film at the Cannes Film Festival was after our own hearts! The three-hour long drama, “Blue Is The Warmest Color,” by director Abdellatif Kechiche, took home the prestigious Palme d’Or, which he shared with lead actresses Adele Exarchopolous and Lea Seydoux. “Blue,” which is based on a French graphic novel by Julie Maroh called Blue Is A Hot Color, has not announced a release date yet, but that’s okay. It gives you plenty of time to brush up on your existentialism. [Slate]
