Last week the Frisky staff trooped down to Union Square for what’s being called NYC’s hottest new musical, “Murder Ballad.” The rock musical explores a love triangle between a married mom with a party girl past, her doting NYU professor husband, and her sexy bartender ex-boyfriend — and just like the title warns, ends tragically.
“Murder Ballad” stars hottie Will Swenson (from “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert” and “Hair”) and Caissie Levy (from the original cast of “Ghost The Musical”) as the starcrossed lovers who fight, fuck, and belt out rock songs with such intensity you’ll feel right in the middle of their love affair. But hands down the most powerhouse voice of the cast is Rebecca Naomi Jones (from “American Idiot”), the narrator, whose voice is just beyond. The theater is set up so the audience seated at cafe tables are part of the set — the Frisky staff sat in a row of seats located right behind the set’s bar, inches away from the actors. I mentioned that Will Swenson is really, really hot, right?
