Support Bucks For Jeff Bauman, The Hero Amputee Who Helped Identify Boston Marathon Bombing Suspects

On Monday, 27-year-old Jeff Bauman lost both of his legs in the Boston Marathon bombing. For him, like so many others, life won’t ever be the same. All of the people impacted by the blast are struggling to cope with what’s happened, but Bauman went the extra mile. When he woke up from his amputations, Bauman asked for a paper and pen and began writing down details that he remembered. The Concord, New Hampshire, man is still in intensive care, but it was his details that helped crack open the case.

“Bag, saw the guy, looked right at me,” he wrote.

That helped authorities zero in on the two suspects — Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. While Bauman struggles to recover, friends and family have set up a “GoFundMe” account to help him pay for the monstrous hospital bills he’s incurring. So far, the fund’s raised more than $134,000, with a goal of $200,000.

“We all knew you were the nicest kid, now we know your the strongest!!,” wrote GoFundMe page founder Brooke Gibbs. “We’re all praying for a quick and safe recovery.” Us, too. [GoFundMe]
