It’s Spring Cleaning Week here at The Frisky, and in addition to tips on how to organize your makeup and clean out your dating life, I thought it would be an excellent time to pay homage to the movies, TV shows, music, and podcasts that we like to absentmindedly watch and/or listen to while we straighten up the living room and scrub the kitchen floor. After the jump, check out The Frisky staff’s preferred cleaning soundtracks and shows (including two votes for “The Real Housewives,”) and please share your own in the comments!
“Jazz, which is also something you can listen to without having to follow along. I use the Count Basie station on Pandora.” –Jessica
“I clean allll the time, but I am a big fan of ‘The Real Housewives’ because you do not need to pay attention to follow along. Also, I DVR every episode of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ on BBC America and I watch those while I clean because I love them but I’ve seen them all 3000 times.” –Amelia
“The Food Network. I clean and then am inspired to make a mess of my kitchen again. So maybe that’s counter-productive.” –Sarah
“I always pop in a ‘Seinfeld’ DVD when I clean, because I know all the episodes by heart and I think it won’t distract me, but I often just end up sitting down to watch it. I also love watching ‘Deadliest Catch,’ because no matter how much I hate cleaning, it’s way better than loading crab pots in the Bering Sea.”
“This weekend I had ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ on while I cleaned.” –Julie
“I like cooking shows while I clean: ‘Kitchen Nightmares,’ ‘Chopped,’ and ‘Cupcake Wars’ are my favorite. Sometimes I listen to ‘The Moth,’ ‘This American Life’ or ‘Radiolab’ while I clean.” –Ami
