A Picture A Day, In The Year Of A Domestic Violence Victim

There was an air of mystery surrounding the alarming video “One Photo A Day In The Worst Year Of My Life” that went viral after it was posted on Reddit. People wondered, Is it real or fake? Devastating personal story, or gripping public service announcement? One thing that we were sure of: it was powerful, upsetting, and had people talking.  The time-lapse-style video chronicled a Serbian girl as she went through the downhill spiral of abuse, as illustrated in one photo per day.

The video is indeed a PSA created by the Serbian organization B92, whose goal is to raise awareness about domestic violence and build a safe house shelter in Belgrade for victims. Two weeks after the video’s viral leap around the interwebs, let’s keep the momentum up and help those who are victims of domestic violence.

If you, or someone you know is suffering from domestic violence in the United States, call The Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).  Internationally you can search by country here.
