Former First Lady Laura Bush wants out of a pro-gay marriage PSA which shows clips of Republicans, including Dick Cheney and Colin Powell, voicing their support for marriage equality. But she’s shit out of luck because she made her opinions publicly known in a CNN interview, which the Respect For Marriage Coalition (part of the Human Rights Campaign and Freedom To Marry) used in their ad. “When couples are committed, they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has,” Bush said on CNN in 2010. Now the Bushes have asked the group not to use Laura’s words in the clip, to no avail. Regardless, shame on her for not standing true to her convictions. [Advocate] [Photo: Getty]
