Behold, peasants, the greasiest queen in all the land! She is Kim Pfannebecker, the Bacon Queen of the sixth annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Des Moines, Iowa.
Chief Bacon Officer Marshall Porter explained that local dressmaker Sarah Dornick constructed the the bacon dress, which was worn by the pageant’s princess of pork following a Q&A section and “intense talent competition.” Following her victory, Kim Pfannebecker donned her bacon dress and a plastic crown to attend to her subjects.
I hope someone makes her a matching cardigan out of fried eggs so she doesn’t freeze in the cold Iowa winter.
Usually I cast a side eye at beauty pageant type stuff. But the Bacon Queen is an inspiration to one and all. Little girls everywhere now know dreams do come true.
