So I guess in the late ’70s, there was a public access TV channel in Santa Monica, run apparently by a man in a cowboy hat. This clip features a woman named Penny Pearce, who went by Penny Magic Show, and the song is called “The Shrink.” It’s pretty incredible for a number of reasons: 1) She’s a proto-riot grrrl, snarling and attacking the establishment, and 2) one of her backup dancers is clearly an old lady (likely her mom) in a silver lame jumpsuit. They just don’t make style like that anymore. Also, the song is not bad! [YouTube]
