Adele Is Done With That Whole “Heartbreak” Thing

“I feel a little bit kind of overexcited. It’s my first night out since I had my child and my inspiration normally comes from heartbreak, but I don’t think I’m ever going to be devastated again anymore, so we’re good.”

–Adele, speaking to reporters after her Golden Globes win for Best Original Song, describes how her new life as a mom might change the subject matter of her songs. Adele declined to reveal the name of her infant son (“It is very personal to me”), but did mention that she now has eczema from boiling bottles, which sounds like the only negative in a very happy life. (And maybe the basis for an emotional ballad? I’m reaching, I know, but I’m so desperate for more tragic Adele ballads that I would gladly listen to her sing about an itchy, flaky skin condition).
