Better late than never! The Critics Choice Awards were given out on Thursday night, kicking off award season. (The People’s Choice Awards were earlier in the week, but let’s face it, those are kind of a joke.) A wrong was righted when Ben Affleck, woefully dissed for a nod by the Academy, took home the best director award; the adorable and insanely talented Quvenzhane Wallis won a prize for her stunning work in “Beasts of the Southern Wild”; and there were a whole lot of beautiful (and a few WTF) gowns on the red carpet.
