WTF?

In my opinion, all  gay conversion therapy is absolutely ridiculous and deeply ignorant and as an ally, I find it offensive. Also, it’s been deemed “dangerous and abusive”  by the World Health Organization and the state of California has banned its use on minors. But, yet, it continues to happen. Horse therapy may be the most asinine form of anti-gay therapy I’ve heard of.

Pastor Raymond Bell, of the Cowboy Church of Virginia (yee haw!), believes that Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), “reparative” sessions spent stroking horses, can assist in the “curing” of  the “addiction” to homosexuality. No details about what kind of “stroking” happens during EAP sessions, but Bell insists that his church’s horses help encourage gay men to be more masculine. (What does that even mean!?)

“EAP can help any person who is living the homosexual lifestyle or involved in it in anyway … The first common misconception is that homosexuality is genetic, or hereditary, or as some say ‘born this way.’ Homosexuality is actually a type of addiction. It is not ‘curable’ as a disease because it is a ‘choice driven’ by the person,” Bell told Gay Star News.

I’m trying to keep it positive in the New Year, so I’ll refrain from ranting and say this: I hope one of Bell’s horses accidentally bucks him in the face and then runs away and joins the Gay Rodeo.
