What happens to actors on “Two And A Half Men”? Seriously, people!
Angus T. Jones, 19, the child actor who plays Jake on “Two And Half Men,” was interviewed about his evangelical Christian beliefs for something called the Forerunner Chronicles, and goes on to bash the show as “filth” that’s brainwashing its viewers into evildoing.
In the beginning of the video — which is several videos edited together — Jones talks about his search for a church (he wanted a black church because he loves black people) and classes he’s been taking to learn more about the end times.
Then the video takes a turn down rant-y lane, making us wonder if Angus Jones has been sipping from the same questionably sourced water fountain as ex-”Two And A Half Men” actor Charlie Sheen.
Jones calls the show “filth” and then warns about “the enemy,” which I assume is Satan, and how the enemy is eking its way into people’s minds via television. To say he’s become an extremist is to put it mildly.
Here he is:
“Jake from ‘Two And A Half Men’ means nothing. He’s a non-existent character. If you’re watching ‘Two And A Half Men,’ please stop watching ‘Two And A Half Men.’ I’m on ‘Two And A Half Men’ and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth. Please. People say it’s just entertainment … do some research on the effects of television and your brain … it’s bad news … I don’t know if it means anymore coming from me. … A lot of people don’t think about how deceptive the enemy is. He’s been doing this way more than any of us have been around. We can’t play around. There’s no playing around.”
Later in the video, Angus Jones talks more about “the enemy” about his willingness to die right now:
“For myself, if I’m not doing His work, I might as well die now. God can take me now. If I’m doing more harm than good, or I’m doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to contribute to the enemy’s plan. … People will see us and be, like, ‘Oh, I can be a Christian and be on a show like ‘Two And Half Men.” You can’t. You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t. I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the Bible says, and being on that television show. You go all or nothing.”
Seriously, the stuff Angus Jones is saying here is disturbing — not his Christian faith, but how the intensity of his faith is dividing the world into “us” and “them” and viewing the world so black and white. I understand this kid is 19 and newly born-again, which are both reasons why his views may be so intense and extreme. But his paranoia of “the enemy” and his willingness to publicly liken his employers to Satan genuinely make me concerned for his mental health and well-being. (As if being on “Two And A Half Men” wasn’t reason enough to be concerned about his well-being. But seriously.)
According to Huffington Post, Warner Bros., which produces “Two And A Half Men,” had no comment about Angus Jones’ behavior. Since he seems to want so badly to be fired, maybe he will get his wish?
