Hump Day Hottie: Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker
With the cold winter months approaching, it’s time to heat things up. Our new newsletter, Hump Day Hotties, will bring our favorite eye candy directly into your inbox every Wednesday. (Subscribe here!) Feel free to drool. We won’t judge.
Sure, Barack Obama won the presidential election last night and we are, admittedly, incredibly excited. But the politician we can’t stop drooling over is actually Cory Booker, the Mayor of Newark, NJ. The 43-year-old, Washington, D.C. native was elected mayor in 2006, having turned to politics after gathering degrees from Stanford University and Yale Law School; he was also a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. You know, no big deal. But his intellect isn’t the only reason he’s the hottest man in the Garden State (sorry, Bruce)…
In addition to being a bleeding heart liberal, Booker is a straight up superhero for the people. If politics has a Ryan Gosling equivalent, that man would be Cory Booker. There was the time he showed up at an elderly man’s house to shovel his driveway after a boatload of snow fell on the tristate area. And how about when he saved a woman from a house fire, suffering smoke inhalation and second degree burns on his hands in the process, and he was credited with saving her life. SWOOOOOON!
Even now, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Booker has been going above and beyond to reassure the citizens of his city and elsewhere that he will do whatever it takes to help. He’s been incredibly responsive to constituent concerns on Twitter, has called many personally on the phone, and actually inviting Newarkers without power to eat and stay in his home. Someone call me a cab! Plus, he’s super funny!
Oh, and on a shallow note, did I mention that his bright smile is absolutely dreamy? P.S. Ladies … he’s single.
