These Light-Up GPS Shoes Will Guide You Home

As I’ve mentioned before, there are very few moments in my life where I’m not wondering, Where the hell am I? So it was with great interest that I read about a pair of “No Place Like Home” GPS shoes that can guide you to any destination with a Dorothy-esque click of your heels. Creator Dominic Wilcox explains how the magical footwear work:

“After uploading your required destination to the shoes via a piece of custom-made mapping software and a USB cable, the GPS, which is embedded in the heel, is activated by a heel click. It then communicates to the wearer via a ring of LED lights to point in the required direction. The shoe with the GPS wirelessly communicates with the right shoe that has a progress bar of lights to show how close you are to the destination.”

Right now the shoes are just a prototype, but I need them to become a reality, like, now. In the meantime, I might have to DIY my own by duct taping my smart phone to the toe of my red sequin pumps. “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home…” [Dominic Wilcox]
