Beauty Cues: Kate Hudson Makes A Romantic Return To The Red Carpet

Former red carpet mainstay Kate Hudson has opted for a more low-key lifestyle in the past few years since settling down with Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy and their one-year-old son Bingham. In fact, her public appearances this week at the 69th Venice Film Festival are the first she’s made since April. I don’t know what’s in the water wherever she’s been hiding or if it’s just fortunate genes (see: mom Goldie Hawn), but Penny Lane is looking better than ever, especially in the soft, natural hair and makeup she chose for the premiere of her latest film, “The Reluctant Fundamentalist.” The look is simple, but glamorous in its subtlety; she just looks expensive, no? I can’t tell you where to get that long flaxen hair, or that to-die-for necklace (believe me, if I knew, I’d be wearing it right now), but I can clue you in to copping her fresh-faced beauty, after the jump …

  • Too Faced Full Bloom Lip & Cheek Crème Color in Tea Rose: As far as blush goes, a creme formula creates the most natural flush possible. Applied with fingertips to the apples of your cheeks, nobody will guess that this rosy nude shade came out of a compact.
  • Dior Dior Addict Extreme in Saint Tropez: This balmy lipstick goes on sheer and melts into the lips for a plumping effect and moisturizing sheen that is unrivaled in comfort. Read: you’ll never reach for the cherry Chapstick again with this luxe version around.
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Bordello: A pale, mauve-y lavender is on trend for fall and flatters all eye colors and complexions, and the gold microglitter in this particular formula gives a candlelit glow. Sweep a sheer layer over the lid with a fluffy medium-sized brush, then use a smaller brush to line the lower lids for a subtly smoky look.
