And just when you thought you had heard the last from me regarding Choupette Lagerfeld, you were so woefully wrong! Allow me to explain myself: cat love is my number one interest and priority above all other things, and I also really adore the kooky Chanel designer‘s flippantly offensive attitude, despite my awareness of the fact that if we did so happen to cross paths he would probably just write me off as having a “bad face,” as in the case of one Pippa Middleton, or “fat,” as in the case of everyone else ever. I wouldn’t even care, man, so long as he would let me smooch his darling cat right on the nose.
Karl has made a point of insisting that unlike him, Choupette is not “commercial,” but what do we have here? Oh, just a photo spread on the online version of high-end avant-garde fashion and art magazine i-D. The publication even went so far as to declare Choupette “the most famous and fabulous pet Paris has ever seen!” If that isn’t just the ultimate, I don’t know what is. What follows is perhaps the most delightful interview ever — when prompted to divulge a little bit about Choupette, Karl positively gushes:
Tell us a bit about Choupette… Her name is Choupette, Princess Choupette or Miss Choupette. She’s snow white with touches of caramel around the eyes, ears and on her endless boa-like feather tail.
How tall is she? It’s difficult to say. She has reached her final size but is kind of tiny.
What are her pet hates? Water and getting wet.
What are her favourite things to do in her free time? Sleeping, hiding, running and jumping like mad around the house. Chasing big fleas in her private garden and making it difficult for me work by jumping on the paper. She loves to destroy paper, that is what she loves to do the most and also driving her beloved maids (Francoise and Marjorie) crazy. With me she is sweet and calm.
Choupette has a private garden. I mean, what? Furthermore, in what has to be the cutest thing probably ever, Hudson Koenig (who you may recall as the dapper toddler who walked the Chanel runway hand-in-hand with his model dad a few seasons back) is shown wearing what appears to be a homemade shirt with a picture of Choupette and the words “Coco Cat Choupette.” I need it. Fellow Choupette enthusiasts can check out the rest of the photos at the source (courtesy of the Choupette Estate, naturally). And better still, you’re going to want to see what I’ve got just below …
