Gunman Kills 12, Injures 50 At Midnight Showing Of “The Dark Knight Rises” In Colorado [UPDATED]

Absolutely horrifying news to report this morning: early this morning, at a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colorado, a gunman shot and killed 14 12 people and injured 50 more. A suspect, identified as a 24-year-old male, was apprehended in the theater parking lot and was taken into custody.

According to police, about 15 minutes after the lights went down in Century 16′s theater #9, a man, allegedly dressed in a Batman costume and dressed in head-to-toe camo (according to a witness speaking to “The Today Show”), a bullet proof vest, and wearing a gas mask, entered the theater and set of tear gas bombs. He then opened fire into the crowd, with a six-year-old and a three-month-old amongst those who were hit. After the suspect was aprehended in the parking lot, police found he told police there were explosives in his car, but none were found; the suspect also told police about potential explosives at his apartment as well, so the building was evacuated as a precaution.
