My friend Aileen and I popped into Sephora a couple weeks ago so I could grab a new face powder, and of course we ended up staying for two hours and testing every single product and fragrance in the store. When our epic cosmetic journey brought us to the NARS section, I spotted their new blush, modestly titled, “Super Orgasm,” and laughed. Their “Orgasm” has been hugely popular for years thanks to the claim that it mimics the natural flush of a woman’s cheeks post-orgasm. “What the hell is a Super Orgasm?” I asked as I swiped some on my cheek. Then I looked in the mirror, stopped asking questions, and spent 30 bucks on blush (which I have totally never done before). Here’s why….
Price/Availability: $28, Sephora
Packaging: Classic black NARS compact with a nice size mirror in the lid.
Formula: Whereas the original Orgasm is a shimmery peach, Super Orgasm has more pink, and–this is key–tiny flecks of gold glitter. Wear it out in the sun and you’ll look like an ethereal goddess…who just had a super orgasm. It’s a great choice for those of us with pink undertones because it looks more natural than brown-tinted bronzers. The color is sheer and buildable: for this photo I swiped on three layers with a fat brush blush.
One more thing I love about the formula is that it doesn’t bother my sensitive skin. For whatever reason, I have a hard time finding blushes and bronzers that don’t irritate my skin. Super Orgasm feels good on my skin and doesn’t make me itch or break out (always a plus!).
Wear Time: Put it on in the morning, wear all day, and reapply one more time if you’re going out at night. The color fades a bit throughout the day but always leaves you with a nice glow.
Overall: Super Orgasm is one of those products that is perfect for summer: it will make you look glowy and sun-kissed but still natural (I’m trying really hard not to say, “like yourself but better!”). Since I started wearing it I’ve received a lot more compliments along the lines of, “I’m not sure what you’re doing but keep doing it–you look great!” Also for most of my Hawaii trip I wore no makeup except for sunscreen and a touch of Super Orgasm, and I love how it looks with a bare face.
Is it expensive? Yes, but it’s bound to become a staple of your makeup bag. If you can afford it, it’s definitely worth the splurge (if not, check out Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips, which was my previous top fave bronzer and will set you back about 10 bucks).
