Earlier today, Mitt Romney spoke at an NAACP conference — that’s the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights organization — and, well, it did not go so hot. Romney got booed for a whole 15 seconds after he promised to repeal health care reform, which he called “non-essential” and “expensive.”
Later in the speech, Romney also pledged his commitment to diversity:
“With 90 percent of African Americans voting for Democrats, some of you may wonder why a Republican would bother to campaign in the African-American community, and to address the NAACP. Of course, one reason is that I hope to represent all Americans, of every race, creed or sexual orientation, from the poorest to the richest and everyone in between.”
Hmm. It looks to me like these ladies weren’t buying it.
