A Killer Novel About Marriage

For the last few days, I’ve barely come up for air, I’ve been so engrossed in reading Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl. A clever and cool thriller, the book is about a woman named Amy Dunne who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary and her husband Nick, thanks to his odd behavior and a suspicious crime scene, quickly becomes the number one suspect. I absolutely love a good mystery and this one kept me on my toes page after page, but Gone Girl was so much more. It’s also a darkly humorous portrait of a modern marriage facing the challenges of a rough economy and shifting gender roles. The whole time I was reading it, I was unsure of who to root for, if anyone, and was on the edge of my seat till the very end. Gone Girl is one of the most fun, creepy, and witty mysteries I’ve read in years. [$13.97, Amazon]
