Lauren Luke, a very popular beauty vlogger, teamed up with the anti-abuse group Refuge to create a beauty video about covering up bruises caused by domestic violence. While watching this video, I knew that it was completely set-up. What I did not know, though, was that it would leave me with total body chills for awhile afterward.

Throughout the video, Luke suggests to viewers various ways to cover up their bruises and cuts, including the use of foundation and wrapping a scarf around her neck. By the end of the video, Luke hears someone come into the house, which I’m guessing is her abusive partner, and quickly turns off the camera in fear of getting another beating.

Luke’s one minute and forty-nine second video, titled “How to look your best the morning after,” is so short and simple, but speaks volumes about domestic violence. With 15-71 percent of women reporting incidences of violence from their partners, Luke’s real message is to not shut up and cover up, but to speak up and find help immediately. [Bust.com]
