“Did you really go up to John Edwards and say, ‘You’re hot?’” This is how Chris Cuomo starts his “20/20″ interview with Rielle Hunter, airing Friday at 10 p.m. on ABC. But I already know her answer. According to an excerpt of her new memoir What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me(she shared a few passages from the book in this week’s issue of People), that’s exactly what she said. The “20/20″ preview ends with Rielle, a mischievous glint in her eye, saying, “You do crazy things when you’re in love.” Not all of us do, Rielle. Not all of us do. [Insert snide remark here about posing in GQ with stuffed animals].
In another excerpt from her memoir, she recounts how John Edwards explained his marriage to Elizabeth: “He told me that he had an entire hidden life that had gone on for decades and that he was currently involved with three different women. One lived in Los Angeles, one in Florida and one in Chicago. Clearly this behavior of his was not going to change overnight.” But she went ahead and got involved with him anyway. Groan. This woman kills me. She has a talent for always saying and doing the wrong thing. And I’ll expect nothing less from her “20/20″ segment. I know, I’m guilty of rubbernecking.
