Fifty Shades of Grey is heating up The New York Times best seller list, making BDSM erotica an official trend of the Summer. But the author, British Twilight fanatic E.L. James, isn’t the first to let the racy sex fetish inspire a novel. That form of fantasy has filled the pages of many books over the years, and in fact, erotic writing dates back at least two millennia to the Greek poet Sappho.
