I think the song “29/31″ by comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates captures the true nature of the dating gap that occurs at that age. Sadly, I can attest to the fact that a single woman can shift from hopeful to bitter in the span of three short years. At 33, I can help write the next song, “31/33,” where bitterness is replaced by indifference. And then “33/35″ … who knows, maybe you hit some kind of single lady wormhole and get sucked back into the “everything happens for a reason” paradigm of 29 and the whole thing starts over again.
