File this under really strange ideas for television shows: E! is developing a scripted drama inspired by the book Dorothy and The Wizard of Oz. “Dorothy” (as it’s currently titled) will follow a girl from Kansas City who falls in love with a man and moves with him to Emerald City to work at his Emerald Hotel. And we need another version of “The Wizard of Oz” because … ? An animated film, “Dorothy of Oz,” is on the way, as is Michelle Williams’ and James Franco’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” The original “Wizard of Oz” is holding up quite nicely. And “Return to Oz,” the 1985 sequel starring Fairuza Balk, is a classic as far as I’m concerned. So, I think we’re all set on the “Wizard of Oz” front. Obviously, the only way this Wiz TV show can be good is if they cast Kim Kardashian as Dorothy and Kanye West as The Wizard. [EW]
