I hereby commence the first-ever meeting of the Ladies Whose Lips Are So Thin We’re Afraid Of Wearing Lipstick support group! So far, Amelia and I are the only members, but with the help of our sponsors, both of us have been making inroads.
Part of my recovery can be attributed to the discovery of my favorite lipstick in the universe, Kate Spade’s Supercalafragilipstick. But at $24 a tube, it’s more of a special occasion lipstick. For everyday wear, I’m crushing on the much-more-broke-ass-mofo-friendly CoverGirl’s Natureluxe Gloss Balm.
Price/Availability: $6.49, drugstores such as Target
Packaging: The Gloss Balm comes in a thin, lightweight tube which fits perfectly in an inside pocket of your purse or inside a clutch. I love how the tube containing the gloss itself is see-through, so I’ll know when I need to go back to CVS and buy another.
How To Use It: Uh … you swipe it on your lips. Do I really need to explain this one?
Overall: What I care about most when it comes to any lip product is whether it stays put for a reasonable amount of time (cheeseburger nom session notwithstanding) and whether it makes my lips flaky. The Gloss Balm stays on for hours and hours if I don’t eat or drink anything; even if I do eat, the general color still stays on my lips, even though I need to reapply for a glossy effect. It’s basically a highly-pigmented colored lip balm masquerading as a lipstick and I doubt anyone can tell the difference. It feels nourishing and comfortable and doesn’t dry out my lips one bit. I’ve been wearing the rosy color Peony and it’s a good for both work and date night. I will absolutely be purchasing more tubes of Gloss Balm when this one runs out!
