3 Ways To Wear It: Cropped Sweaters

The long, lean silhouette that dominated past seasons (think tunics and boyfriend cardigans) has recently given way to a much different look: short tops and sweaters that stop right at the waist or just above it. This style is super cute but it’s a bit tricky to style a cropped top if you don’t want to show your midriff. To help you out, we took one cropped sweater and styled it 3 very different–and very wearable–ways. Click through to check out the options… [Sweater, $70, Topshop]

From left to right:

1. Pair it with a high-waisted skirt. The best way to make the cropped sweater trend work appropriate? Pair it with a chic and simple pencil skirt with a waist high enough to give you plenty of coverage. [Skirt: $50, Mango]

2. Layer it over a longer blouse. As you can see this works really well as a casual look, with a plaid button-down and jean shorts, but it would also look fabulous (and fancy!) with a long silky blouse. [Shirt: $35, Modcloth; Shorts: $14, KMart]

3. Throw it on over a sundress. The perfect outfit for a breezy spring or summer evening. Choose a dress with a slightly flared skirt and your cropped sweater will help define an hourglass shape. [Dress: $45, Delia’s]
