Marc Jacobs knows women. He’s the much-loved designer who dresses and fraternizes with starlets and socialites and starred in an ad campaign for NARS, not to mention the fact that he’s a man who can rock a skirt with the best of them … but is he suited to create his very own makeup line? All signs point to yes, because the fashion visionary has snagged a deal with Sephora to formulate his debut cosmetics collection alongside the über-popular beauty chain.
“The idea of choosing a color for your lip, or an eyeliner — it’s just such a delight,” he said last week at the first sit-down for the venture. “The ritual of waking up and making those choices is something people really enjoy.”
I love that Marc realizes that, for many women, there is a true devotion to and appreciation of cosmetics and the face they choose to put on each morning, an enjoyment that transcends just looking “pretty.” The enterprise is in the very preliminary stages of creation so there isn’t much information as of yet, but given Jacobs’s attitude toward the project, I’m really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.
