Ever since plimsoll first arrived in the 1830s, we’ve been working to constantly improve our athletic footwear. One unfortunate recent evolution — probably originating from the high platforms worn by ravers in the ’80s and ’90s — is the emergence of the high-heel sneaker. You might have had a pair in the late ’90s. Beyonce certainly did. Now the latest thing? Isabel Marant platform wedge sneakers, that sneakily hide the heel inside the shoe so no one has to know that you’ve got an extra little booty push. They’re great if you’ve got an extra $760 to spare. But if not, do what Amelia did, and get a less expensive but still totally cool version of these made by Ash.
