As if just being the acclaimed equestrian daughter of a Russian fertilizer magnate wasn’t glamorous enough, 22-year-old Ekaterina Rybolovleva is now the owner of the most expensive apartment in the most expensive city in the world. That’s right — her father, Dmitry Rybolovlev, in a sale that shattered Manhattan’s individual property transaction records, parted with his pocket change of $88 million to snag Ekaterina the swaggiest pad in all of New York City, which will be her “starter home” while she studies in the States.
High above Central Park, the 10-room, 6,744 square foot apartment features seven (!!!) walk-in closets, its own mahogany library, and a wrap-around terrace offering probably the most incredible view of the surrounding city anywhere. Somewhat incongruously, Ekaterina goes to school at Harvard, a good four hours’ drive from her abode, but there’s no doubt in my mind that some private helicopters are involved. Behind the purchase could just be a touch of ulterior motivation for Dmitry — the billionaire is currently ensnared in a bitter divorce with his wife of 23 years and Ekaterina’s mother, who could prove to be exceptionally draining on his bank account. Regardless, the apartment will be immune to dispute, as it’s in Ekaterina’s name only. Celebitchy dug up some photos of the apartment, which was featured in Architectural Digest in 2010.
