Ever since my totally no big deal (!!!) appearance on “The Today Show,” I have been experiencing completely irrational low self-esteem when it comes to my hair. The hairstylist did such an amazing job crafting my thick hair into voluminous waves and I have been desperate to recreate the look on my own. I am embarrassed to admit that I have bought two curling irons (with 1.25-inch and 2-inch barrels) and a whole mess of velcro rollers but have utterly failed at accomplishing anything other than intense frustration. But then a coworker said she had the perfect tool for me to try — the InStyler! And dudes? It’s a life-changer.
After blowing my hair dry, I wrap a small section of hair around the barrel and then clamp the brush part down — the barrel immediately starts rotating causing the brush to smooth out my hair as it curls. I just stand there. I don’t have to do anything. The result is a perfect loose, voluminous wave. Alternatively, you can also use the InStyler to straighten hair by pulling it through the strands rather than wrapping the hair around the curling iron. (I suspect there are also 10 million other uses for the InStyler which I am looking forward to exploring in further depth.) Considering how much trouble I was having with basic curling irons and velcro rollers, the InStyler is clearly idiot-proof. Best hair appliance ever. I love it so much, I would marry it except that is illegal. [$99, Amazon]
