Christian Victoria’s Secret Model Quits On Account Of Jesus

In 2009, Victoria’s Secret launched a nationwide competition to seek out their newest Angel. Out of 10,000 real-girl applicants, all voted upon by fans online, only one emerged victorious: the then-19-year-old Kylie Bisutti, a newlywed Californian who then walked in the annual show alongside the established Angels. To most aspiring models, this would be a dream come true … but Kylie says otherwise. Now, after two years at the receiving end of a VS salary, she’s decided that lingerie modeling is against her Christian values, and violates the terms of her marriage. She says:

“The more I was modeling lingerie, and lingerie isn’t clothing, I just started becoming more uncomfortable with it because of my faith … My body should only be for my husband and it’s just a sacred thing.”

This isn’t the porn industry, honey, it’s Victoria’s Secret. After all, it’s the home of the Pink line, which seeks to outfit girls under 18 in thongs adorned with, like, hearts and puppies. Maybe I’m jaded, but I’ve never once been shocked by one of their ads; I would even go so far as to say that as far as lingerie goes, the brand is practically tame. The essence of Kylie’s tale is that Jesus hates what she’s doing, so she has to stop. I wouldn’t judge her for this conviction, except for the part where she’s spent the past two years modeling for them and raking in the big bucks while doing so, not to mention she beat out 10,000 other, possibly more worthy contestants. It’s not like she’s going to donate the money to the church, or something. As The Superficial pointed out, she was both Christian and married when she took the job, and a Google Image search of her name turns up a number of photos of her scantily clad and looking decidedly unreligious while not modeling. I have faith that she won’t be missed. [The Superficial]
