Whether you have a penchant for perfectly shaped graphite or simply want to impress your hipster friends, David Rees has just the service for you: artisan pencil sharpening. For $12.50 you can send your favorite pencil to David for sharpening; for $15 he will provide the pencil. The manual sharpening takes place in David’s Hudson River Valley workshop. Shavings are bagged and sent back to the customer as proof of authenticity. According to the website, “David loves #2 pencils and pencil sharpeners, and considers it a privilege to sharpen pencils for friends and strangers.” And apparently the service is legit. Says David: “Just because something makes you smile or laugh … doesn’t mean it’s a joke.” [Artisan Pencil Sharpening]
