The 911 call made by Demi Moore’s friends on Monday night has been released. (You can listen here.) A panicked friend says the actress is “convulsing” and “semi-conscious” after “she smoked something, it’s not marijuana, but it’s similar to … it’s similar to incense and she seems to be having convulsions of some sort.” The friends hand the phone around to each other — and at one point, if I’m not mistaken, two people address “Ru,” possibly referring to her daughter Rumer — as they urge the dispatcher to send paramedics immediately because she’s “burning up” and breathing “shakily.”
No one on the 911 call identifies exactly what drugs Demi Moore was doing that evening — sources have said she was inhaling nitrous oxide, aka doing whip-its — but one friend alludes to the dispatcher “she’s been having some issues lately with some other stuff, so I don’t know what she’s been taking or not.” At one point a friend in the background says she’s squeezing her hand.
It’s an extremely scary audio to listen to. But the audio gives me even more respect for 911 dispatchers, who keeps calm the entire phone call.
We wish the best for Demi Moore in her recovery. Drug overdoses are fucking scary and we’re glad she’s getting the help she needs.
