Our culture tends to make women disappear as we age, so it’s exciting to see that the blog Advanced Style has been turned into a documentary and book. To celebrate, some of the sassy old broads featured on the site appeared on “The Today Show” to show off their ageless style tips. First up: Joyce, a gorgeous octogenarian who notes that “a woman can’t always look younger, but she can always look elegant.” So true. Then there’s former dancer Jackie, whose posture puts me to shame. And Ilana, who’s 91 and makes her own faux eyelashes from clippings of her hair. As she’s leaving the stage in a hail of compliments, she tells the hosts, “I’m glad that you enjoy my freedom” (I’m so adopting that phrase). Finally, 100-year-old Ruth Cohen models, with her grandson Ari, who started the blog. But listen “Today Show” ladies, don’t take too long, Ruth’s got a pilates class to get to. [MSNBC]
