“Well… it’s a little bit more complicated than that…but we agreed that it was probably best for everyone. It’s a great honor to be considered, and [head of Dior] Mr. Arnault is a super intelligent man and a very smart man and it was certainly a very great honour for him to know that I was capable – and not only capable but that I am someone that he would have wanted for the job. But I am very happy to be here. There is so much more left to do and building Louis Vuitton into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started.”

– We’d heard rumors for forever that Marc Jacobs was being heavily considered to take over John Galliano’s position at Christian Dior, but this is the first time that Jacobs directly addressed the situation. He’ll be staying with Louis Vuitton after all, which makes sense. It seems like Jacobs’ American sportswear sensibilities might not be the best fit for Dior. Jacobs is currently planning a retrospective of his work with Louis Vuitton at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs at the Louvre in March. [Telegraph]
