Katy Perry’s Parents Support Her After Split, See It As God’s Will
“I love my daughter and I will always love her. Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children. What has taken place in my daughter’s life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. God has given us a platform to go in and meet people — and they like us because we are cool. We are not threatening.”
— Keith Hudson, joined by his wife Mary Hudson, addressed their daughter Katy Perry‘s split from husband Russell Brand in front of around 300 worshippers at their Westlake, Ohio, church this week. In the Hudsons’ faith, divorce is a sin, but Mr. Hudson seems to be implying that the sin is outweighed by the opportunity her career afforded them to spread the word of God to otherwise “guarded and gated” people. And, in fact, the split was God’s will, leading more people to their church.
Emphasized Mrs. Hudson:
“I’m sure that Katy’s trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight. I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.”
Well, I dunno if I buy that, but, um, I’m glad Katy Perry’s parents are at least supporting her during this difficult time? I suspect, though, that they never quite approved of Russell, so I imagine as sinful as her divorce may be, they also think her being rid of his influence is an even bigger blessing. [NY Post]
