I wrote this essay somewhat on a whim because it was a topic that we had been discussing around the office. I was pretty shocked by the level of response it got and was deeply, deeply moved by the numbers of readers who so vehemently came to my defense and who made discussing the subject (mostly) productive.
An update on my bald spot: it’s still there, but the hair seems to be growing back.
Timing is working somewhat in my favor, in small ways, right now. The subject of this particular piece and I are spending New Year’s together. At a Phish concert. It’s going to be epic.
Sometimes a gal just needs to rant.
I’m still enormously proud of my mom and am happy to report that so long as she doesn’t get in trubs with the law for the next six months, her arrest will be wiped off the books.
I am still thinking about the ways this unusual relationship had a positive impact on my life, even though it ended badly.
We didn’t and I’ve started showering more.
