While there are still a few days left in 2011, we’re going to feature some of our best and favorite posts from the last year. Each of your regular Frisky bloggers has picked out her favorite posts from 2011—some you may remember well, others might have slipped under your radar. Either way, we hope you’ll relive the best of The Frisky in 2011. Here’s what I was proud to write in 2011.
1. Girl Talk: I Was Date Raped When I Drunk
I wrote this essay somewhat on a whim because it was a topic that we had been discussing around the office. I was pretty shocked by the level of response it got and was deeply, deeply moved by the numbers of readers who so vehemently came to my defense and who made discussing the subject (mostly) productive.
2. Girl Talk: I Have A Picking Problem
An update on my bald spot: it’s still there, but the hair seems to be growing back.
Timing is working somewhat in my favor, in small ways, right now. The subject of this particular piece and I are spending New Year’s together. At a Phish concert. It’s going to be epic.
6. Penn State Students Protesting Joe Paterno’s Firing Need A Reality Check
7. Girl Talk: I Won’t Cook For Just Any Man Again
9. Soapbox: I’m Sorry, But I Just Need To Rant About This Stupid xoJane “Plan B” Piece
Sometimes a gal just needs to rant.
11. Girl Talk: I’m Proud That My Mom Got Arrested
I’m still enormously proud of my mom and am happy to report that so long as she doesn’t get in trubs with the law for the next six months, her arrest will be wiped off the books.
13. Girl Talk: How Much Should I Know About My Therapist?
14. The Soapbox: Assorted Thoughts On That Gizmodo/OKCupid/Magic The Gathering Dating Essay
16. Girl Talk: Dating A Man With Autism Taught Me To Be Myself
I am still thinking about the ways this unusual relationship had a positive impact on my life, even though it ended badly.
17. Dating Don’ts: Please, These 7 Romantic Gestures Need To Go
18. Girl Talk: When I Grow Up I Want To Be Tami Taylor
20. Girl Talk: Too Drunk To Be A Victim
22. Girl Talk: The Couple That Grooms Together, Stays Together
