Is no one on “Bachelor Pad” even the slightest bit authentic? I am feeling a bit naive at the moment for buying the sob story presented by Ella Nolan over the course of the show. Ever since the beginning of “Bachelor Pad,” we have been hearing her say why she ABSOLUTELY NEEDS to win the $250K grand prize so that she can give her 9-year-old son the best life possible. “I am a single mother … and I am struggling,” she said last episode, before bursting into tears because safety roses were given to Vienna and Kasey over her and Kirk. This, on top of her tragic childhood—her stepfather shot her mother on the street at point blank range in front of her—made her exceptionally sympathetic.
Which is why I was shocked to read this morning that Ella has pulled a half Heidi Montag. Yes, Ella has gone and gotten herself five plastic surgery procedures and has told the tale, and given photos, to Life & Style, as if this were something to be proud of.“TV magnifies all your flaws, and seeing my profile really bothered me,” Ella said, explaining why she wanted a nose job, breast implants and liposuction on her tummy, hips and thighs. “And I’ve always wanted my breasts done. Before I got pregnant with my son, Ethan, about 10 years ago, my boobs were fabulous. They haven’t been the same since.”
Wait—does Ella ever look anything besides completely stunning on the show?
Of course, Ella went to Erica Rose’s dad, plastic surgeon Franklin Rose, for the procedures. He grossly tells Life & Style, “We removed 3 liters of fat from her hips, thighs and lower abdomen. That should bring her down at least four dress sizes.”
Wait—did she have four dress sizes to lose?
But Ella is thrilled with the results. “I got everything I wanted. I feel incredible,” she says. “I can’t stop touching my new boobs!”
So why does this make me so upset?
Because, even if she got a heavy discount on these procedures because she went to a friend’s dad for them, plastic surgery is expensive. And if she’s really struggling the way she has portrayed herself to be, there absolutely has to be a better use for that money. Not to mention that, next Monday, Ella will make a plea to a studio audience to vote for her and Kirk as the winner of “Bachelor Pad” on account of her need. The whole show, I have questioned why contestants like Jake Pavelka and Michelle Money have claimed that they would be donating the money to charity should they win. That claim is awfully transparent and doesn’t make me want to vote for someone because it seems so Miss America fake. I liked that Ella never postured like that, and instead gave a more relatable reason for why $125K would help her out. But this surgery incident shows me that, if given a large sum of money, she’d probably squander it on stupid stuff, just like most people would.
I hope Ella got $125K for sharing her story with Life & Style, because I have a feeling this just cost her the win on “Bachelor Pad.” Which is a shame since her partner, Kirk DeWindt, may actually be telling the truth about why he needs the money—because he accumulated hefty medical bills after coming down with mold poisoning. Or is that a farse, too?
What do you think about this?
