Switzerland’s Sex Ed Involves A Wooden Penis And A Fabric Vagina

In America, sex education is whatever the religious right says it is. But in Switzerland kids ages four to 10 get their sex education with a wooden penis and a fabric vagina which teachers use to “show that contacting body parts can be pleasurable.” Another part of the teacher’s guide instructs kids to learn about pleasure while they rub themselves with warm sand bags while listening to soft music. Clutching your pearls yet? So are 3,000 Swiss people who have been sending angry letters to their government. (No doubt these people are also upset the country sells pregnancy tests in vending machines and features drive-in “sex boxes” in its red light district.) “Children should be encouraged to develop and experience their sexuality in a pleasurable way,” insisted a rector who helped develop the Swiss sex-ed program. I could not agree more, although the whole rubbing yourself with warm sandbags sounds like something I’d be too embarrassed to do as a kid.

I still cannot believe anyone objects to children being taught why genitalia exists and that pleasure for both males and females is a good thing. Better they learn the birds and the bees now than when some Disney Channel star has a sex tape scandal. [Christian UK (Just FYI: this site is definitely religious-leaning on social issues)]
