Neils Peeraer is a student at the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Art — one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world (and the alma mater of Martin Margiela!). It’s also where the Antwerp Six — designers Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs and Marina Yee — attended school, and it’s generally considered an incubator for cutting edge fashion. And yet! Cutting edge fashion does not often translate to wearable design, as in these Japanese sandals-cum-gladiator-boots by Peeraer. We’re not sure if we should be serving tea in them, or fighting evil forces. Somehow both seem like a possibility. [Antwerp Fashion]
